John joined Howarth Clark Whitehill in 1973 and qualified with the firm as a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants and the Institute of taxation, and is authorised by the FSA in giving investment advice. His commercial, taxation and audit experience has enabled John to develop the role of a specialist dealing with professional and trading partnerships within the Thames Valley and clients cover a broad spectrum of industries and structures. The services being delivered covering compliance in accounting and taxation through to advising on longer term business strategy and financing, where he plays a key role in integrating the tax and financial planning to meet the needs of individual partners and their families. Through to firms requiring ongoing support, external advice or arbitration with one-off matters involving dispute, merger, acquisition or restructuring. John has been a member of regional taxation technical committees for his professional bodies and served on other committees with professional bodies. He has in the past been the chairman of the Thames Valley Branch of the Institution of Taxation, and is the current chairman of the NAPF Thames Valley Branch, which reflects his other specialism of providing audit advisory services to Trustees of defined benefit pension schemes. Outside his professional activities he has been a lay member of the Buckinghamshire Family Practitioner Committee, serving both as member of the main committee and sub-committees including the disciplinary committees of which he has been the chairman. Involvement with local commercial bodies has resulted in membership of committees managing and representing the Local and County Chambers of Trade in matters as varied as Town Christmas light funding to representations to County and Central Government on business rates.
